Privacy policy

This privacy statement applies to the web pages of Völkel Mikroelektronik GmbH.

It also applies to our social media channels:

the YouTube channel of Völkel Mikroelektronik GmbH, the Xing and LinkedIn company profiles as well as the Facebook and Instagram company pages of Völkel Mikroelektronik GmbH.

This privacy statement is intended to inform you about our careful and responsible handling of your personal data and about your associated rights.

1. General information
Personal Data

Any data that can be used to personally identify you is personal data. This can be direct information such as name, address, e-mail address, telephone number, but also indirect information that is not personal data in itself but enables identification through combination with other information, e.g. the IP address.

Purpose of collection, processing and use of data

Völkel Mikroelektronik GmbH operates the website in order to inform customers and interested parties about products and services and to enable visitors to contact us quickly and easily.

In general, you can visit our website without providing any personal data. If you actively provide us with your personal data, e.g. via the contact form, by registering in the service portal or in e-mail communication, we will only use it for the purpose of fulfilling your wishes or requests.

Other data is automatically collected by our IT systems as soon as you open our website. This is mainly technical data without reference to any person that we collect to ensure error-free provision of the website or to analyse user behaviour.

Legal basis for processing

Insofar as we process your personal data, this is done in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and in compliance with the country-specific data protection regulations applicable to Völkel Mikroelektronik GmbH, in particular the new version of the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG dated 25/05/2018).

Article 6(1)(b) GDPR, which permits the processing of data for the performance of a contract or for pre-contractual measures, forms the legal basis for the processing of your personal data. If we require personal data for specific services on our website without a legal basis, we will obtain your consent to collect such data.

Note on the security and confidentiality of your personal data

We have taken technical and organisational measures to ensure that the regulations on data protection are observed both by us and by our external service providers.

  • Our employees are bound by confidentiality obligations.
  • We engage external service providers in accordance with Art. 28 GDPR, or § 62 BDSG (new version).
  • Our safety precautions correspond to the current state of the art to a reasonably feasible extent.
  • Our systems are regularly checked for security, enabling us to sustainably protect the data we hold from any damage, loss or unauthorized access.
  • Our website uses SSL and TLS encryption. This protects the transmission of confidential content that you send to us, such as orders, invoices or enquiries. A connection is encrypted when the address in the browser changes from ‘http://’ to ‘https://’ and the lock symbol appears in your browser’s address bar.

However, please note that data transmissions via the Internet are generally subject to security vulnerabilities; absolute protection cannot be guaranteed. You are free to send us personal data by alternative means, for example by telephone.

3. What data we collect in detail and what purposes we use it for
Server log data and general information

Every time you visit our website, we collect and store access data in server log files, which your browser automatically transmits to the server hosting our website.

This applies to the following data:

  • Name of the accessed website and file
  • Browser type / version
  • Operating system
  • Referrer (URL of the page from which you reached us)
  • Host name of the accessing computer (IP address)
  • Your internet service provider
  • Date and time of the server request
  • The amount of data transferred
  • Message on whether the retrieval was successful
  • Other similar data and information serving the purpose of preventing attacks on our computer networks.

When using this general data and information, Völkel Mikroelektronik GmbH does not draw any conclusions as to the data subject. We use this data

  • to correctly deliver and optimize the content of our website,
  • to ensure the technical functionality of our Internet presence,
  • and to provide law enforcement authorities with the information necessary for prosecution in the event of a cyber attack.

The anonymous server log data is stored separately from any personal data provided by a data subject.

Cookies

The web pages of Völkel Mikroelektronik GmbH use cookies to some extent. Cookies are small files that your web browser stores on your computer. Through cookies, your individual browser can be distinguished from other web browsers and recognised by means of a unique identifier, the cookie ID.

The purpose of this recognition is to make it easier for users to navigate online. Through the use of cookies, Völkel Mikroelektronik GmbH can provide you with more user-friendly internet services; this would not be possible without using cookies. For example, the user of a website that uses cookies does not have to re-enter his or her access data each time he or she visits the website because this is done by the website and the cookie stored on the user's computer system.

You may refuse to accept cookies and delete any existing cookies in your system by configuring your web browser accordingly. This is possible in all common web browsers. For more information, please refer to the help texts of your browser.

If cookies are deactivated, this may cause functional limitations of our website. For example, online services that require customer authentication with user name and password cannot be used because they require so-called session cookies for security reasons, which are removed by the browser every time you log out or close the browser window.

Insofar as other cookies (e.g. cookies enabling the analysis of your browsing behaviour) are stored, these are covered in a separate section of this privacy statement.

Your registration on our website and data that you provide to us by any other means

You have an option to register on our website. Your registration enables us to offer you content or services which, due to their nature, can only be offered to registered users. To do this, we require personal data that we collect from you via the input mask.

This data is collected and stored by us only for internal use at Völkel Mikroelektronik GmbH and is exclusively used to process your enquiry and to contact you with regard to this matter.

The basis for data processing is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, which permits the processing of data for the fulfilment of a contract or pre-contractual measures.

In the event that we involve partners or service providers to fulfil your enquiry or order, for example to deliver goods to you, we will provide them with the required information and oblige them in writing to process your data in accordance with the data protection law. We transmit personal data to third parties only if this is necessary within the scope of performing a contract.

Transmission of data beyond this scope does not take place unless you have expressly consented to such transmission. Your data will not be passed on to third parties without your express consent, for example for advertising purposes.

Processed requests remain stored for documentation purposes. The association with your personal data will remain even after your request has been processed in order to provide you with access to your requests and the responses from our service department. After termination of the contractual relationship with your organisation or your affiliation with this organisation, this association will be removed.

Registered persons are free to change the personal data provided during registration at any time or to have it deleted from our database in its entirety.

SERVICE-Login

If you wish to log in to the service area as offered on the website, we require a valid e-mail address from you as well as information that allows us to verify that you are the owner of the e-mail address provided or that its owner consents to the customer login. No other data is collected.

Contact option via the website

If you contact us by e-mail or via a contact form, the personal data you provide in the process will be stored automatically. Such personal data transmitted on a voluntary basis will be stored for the purpose of processing your request or to contact you. We do not pass this data on to third parties as a matter of principle.

We may use your contact details for customer care purposes, to inform you about our company, our services and our products, or for personal invitations and greetings. You may object to such use at any time by sending an e-mail to widerruf(at)voelkel.de.

Data protection in applications and application processes

We process personal data of applicants in order to process their applications. Such processing is usually done by electronic means. Applicants usually submit their application documents to us by e-mail. In the event that an employment contract is concluded with an applicant, the transmitted data is stored for the purpose of managing the employment relationship in compliance with the statutory provisions. In the event that no employment contract is concluded with the applicant, the application documents will be deleted two months after notification of the decision to reject the application, provided that no other legitimate interests of the data controller conflict with such deletion. Other legitimate interest in this sense is, for example, a duty to provide evidence in proceedings under the German General Equal Treatment Act (AGG).

Google Maps

This website uses Google Maps to display a site map.

To use Google Maps, it is necessary to store your IP address. This information is transferred to a Google server and processed there. As the operator of this website, we have no influence on this data transfer. The IP address is required to display the content; without the IP address, Google would not be able to send the content to the browser of the respective user.

The terms of use for Google Maps can be found at Terms of use for Google Maps. For full details, please visit Google's Privacy Center: Privacy Policy.

5. Company profiles in social media

We maintain company profiles on social media sites, which are explained in greater detail in the following text.

Social networks such as Facebook, Instagram etc. can generally analyse your user behaviour comprehensively when you visit their website or a website with integrated social media content (e.g. Like buttons or advertising banners). Visiting our social media sites triggers numerous processing operations relevant to data protection.

If you are logged into your social media account and visit our social media presence, the operator of the social media portal can assign this visit to your user account. However, your personal data may also be collected if you are not logged in or do not have an account with the respective social media portal. In this case, such data collection takes place, for example, via cookies that are stored on your terminal device or by recording your IP address.

With the help of the data collected in this way, the operators of such social media portals can create user profiles in which your preferences and interests are stored. In this way, interest-based advertising can be displayed to you inside and outside the respective social media presence. If you have an account with the respective social network, such interest-based advertising may be displayed on all devices on which you are or were logged in.

Please also note that we are not able to track all processing on the social media portals. Further processing operations may therefore be carried out by the operators of the social media portals depending on the provider. For details, please refer to the terms of use and data protection provisions of the respective social media portals.

Legal basis

Our social media profiles are designed to ensure a comprehensive presence on the internet. This is a legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The analysis processes initiated by the social networks may be based on different legal bases, which shall be stated by the operators of the social networks (e.g. consent within the meaning of Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

Responsible party and assertion of rights

If you visit one of our social media profiles (e.g. Facebook), we are jointly responsible for any data processing operations triggered during this visit together with the operator of the social media platform. You may generally assert your rights (information, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability and complaint) both against us and against the operator of the respective social media portal (e.g. against Facebook).

Please note that despite the joint responsibility with the social media portal operators, we have limited influence on the data processing operations of the social media portals. Our options are largely determined by the corporate policy of the respective provider.

Storage period

The data collected directly by us via the social media presence will be deleted from our systems as soon as the purpose for which it is stored ceases to apply, you request us to delete it, you withdraw your consent to its storage or the purpose for which the data is stored ceases to be relevant. Stored cookies remain on your terminal device until you delete them. Mandatory legal provisions – retention periods in particular – shall remain unaffected.

We have no influence on the storage period of your data stored by the operators of the social networks for their own purposes. For details on this, please refer to information provided by the operators of the social networks (e.g. in their privacy statement, see below).

Facebook and Instagram

We have a profile on both Facebook and Instagram. The provider of these services is Facebook Ireland Limited, 4 Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2, Ireland. According to Facebook, the data collected is also transferred to the USA and other third countries.

Facebook as a platform is jointly responsible for data processing together with us. The following link https://www.facebook.com/legal/terms/page_controller_addendum provides information as to which data processing operations we or Facebook are responsible for when you visit our Facebook or Instagram page.

Our influence on data processing through our Facebook or Instagram page is limited. Wherever we are able to influence it, we work towards data protection-compliant handling by the operator of the social media platform. We do not use or process the data you enter on our social media pages for any other purposes. Your likes, comments, videos, pictures etc. are published by the social media platform. We only reserve the right to delete content if necessary. We may share your content on our site if this is a feature of the social media platform and may communicate with you via the social media platform. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(1)(f) GDPR. Data processing is carried out in the interest of our public relations and communication.

To limit the use of your profile information and behavioural data on part of the provider of the social media platform, you may adjust your advertising settings independently in your user account. To do so, click on the following link and log in:

Xing

We have a profile on XING. The responsible company is New Work SE, Dammtorstraße 30, 20354 Hamburg, Germany. For details on how this company handles your personal data, please refer to XING's privacy statement: https://privacy.xing.com/en/privacy-policy.
Xing uses various tracking technologies to create interest and usage profiles. For this purpose, Xing also uses several third-party services such as Google. In such cases, data processing may take place outside the EU. In these so-called third countries, the level of data protection may be insufficient according to EU standards. In particular, this creates the risk that authorities of the respective third country may access data at the third party provider's premises for control or monitoring purposes, possibly even without any enforceable judicial remedies. The use of some tracking service providers can be prevented in accordance with Xing's privacy statement.

LinkedIn

We have a profile on LinkedIn. The provider is LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company, Wilton Plaza, Wilton Place, Dublin 2, Ireland. LinkedIn's data centres for storing its members' information are currently located in the USA. The services LinkedIn renders require data to be transferred from the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland to the United States of America (USA) and back.

In order to ensure that personal data from the European Union is protected when transferred outside the EU, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requires that such transfers be made using certain legislative instruments, which are described on the website of the European Commission.

LinkedIn uses advertising cookies.
If you would like to deactivate LinkedIn advertising cookies, please use the following link:
https://www.linkedin.com/psettings/guest-controls/retargeting-opt-out.

For details on how this company handles your personal data, please refer to LinkedIn's privacy statement:
https://www.linkedin.com/legal/privacy-policy.

YouTube

We have set up a YouTube channel where you can watch our videos. YouTube is operated by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, which is also responsible for data protection:

When you visit one of our pages featuring a YouTube plugin, a connection to YouTube's servers is established. This tells the YouTube server which of our pages you have visited.

If you are logged into your YouTube account, you enable YouTube to assign your browsing behaviour directly to your personal profile. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account.

The most important information regarding data protection in the YouTube video portal is briefly summarised under https://www.datenschutz.org/youtube/

YouTube is used for the purpose of creating an appealing presentation of our online offers. This is a legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

For more information on data processing by YouTube, please visit: https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Opting out is possible at: https://adssettings.google.com/authenticated

You can also assert your rights of use directly with the provider.
