Submarine cables which are laid in the sea are heavy. This explains why cable drums to uncoil the cable are moved hydraulically using drive units. The drive regulation ensures that the sea cable drum is turned easily and quick, reliable steady laying of the cable is guaranteed.

• Each drive is supervised separately by a controller.
• The controllers communicate via a field bus in order to coordinate the single drives.
• The option exists to switch over to single driving. A torque regulator achieves identical power transmission for each drive.
• The electronic pressure regulation makes exact acceleration and braking of the cable drum possible.
• A second master control system guarantees the fail-safety of the system.
